The public prosecutor of the Grand Criminal Court has charged a man in his twenties with murder under Article 327 of the Penal Code after he accidentally ran over and killed his brother while intending to target police officers in Irbid.

The prosecutor has ordered the suspect to be held in custody for 15 days, subject to renewal, at a rehabilitation and correctional center.

According to a source close to the investigation, the incident occurred following a dispute between the accused, his deceased brother, and another individual, who called for police assistance and fled the scene.

The source revealed that after the individual escaped, tensions arose between the brothers and the police. While the deceased was speaking to the officers, the accused attempted to run over the police with his vehicle but accidentally struck his brother instead.

The injured brother was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
